I am pleased to announce that The Wind in Trees is an official selection of the Creative Arts Film Festival.

The book trailer for Holidays and Other Disasters by John G. Rodwan, Jr. is the latest creation of Rodwan Productions, LLC.

My poem “Santa Fe Cattle Co., Ada, OK” is going to be published in an upcoming issue of WORK Literary Magazine. The rough draft of the poem started forming in my mind while John G. Rodwan, Jr., and I dined at the Santa Fe Cattle Co. restaurant while visiting Ada, OK for the Scissortail Creative Writing Festival in which John was one of the presenting authors. There was a young woman working at the restaurant who reminded me of myself at that age. As I observed her laboring through the evening, the words started to come together. I am very pleased that WORK Literary Magazine has chosen to publish the verse. I really cannot think of a better placement for the poem.

The Poetry in Pictures Series short film The Wind in the Trees is finished. The film explores nature’s ability to provoke memory and excite consciousness as contemplated in the poem of the same title by Charles Goodrich. The film combines live-action footage, animated sand and paintings with shadow puppetry.

The ninth issue of Upstreet literary magazine is out and contains my short story “Night Moves.”

Upstreet 9

Facet Kids!

Two films from my Poetry in Pictures Series, I learned today, will be distributed via Facets Kids, an online streaming service developed by the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival and Facets, a national non-profit media organization. “A Noiseless Patient Spider” and “Imperfect Armor” were previously official selections of the Chicago International Film Festival and now will have wider distribution, a very welcome surprise for poetry-based short films!

“A Noiseless Patient Spider” is based on a poem by Walt Whitman and features the voice of singer/song writer Stuffy Shmitt. “Imperfect Armor” animates the work of John G. Rodwan, Jr.

Facets Kids is currently in final testing stages and will launch later this summer. Information about the project is at http://www.facets.org/kidstream

I’ll let everyone know when my short films are available for viewing.

My flash fiction piece “Night Moves” is going to appear in issue number nine of Upstreet Magazine coming out in July! Yes, the title does allude to the Bob Seger song. Returning to the Midwest has apparently had an influence on my work.
