A Noiseless Patient Spider was awarded Best Animated Short Film by The California Film Awards on January 22, 2011.  I share this honor with Stuffy Shmitt whose soulful reading of the poem, accompanied by the playful and rich original music created by his son Dylan Shmitt, added to the life of the images.

Rodwan Productions has secured the rights to include Charles Goodrich’s poem “The Wind in the Trees” from his collection of poems titled Going to Seed: Dispatches from the Garden to be the next film in the Poetry In Pictures Series.  Work is well under way on the film.  Nancy Rodwan is currently in the process of creating a clay painting that will animate a portion of the film.

The organizers of the Big Eyes, Big Minds Singapore International Children’s Film Festival saw Imperfect Armor at the Chicago International Children’s Film Festival and invited the Poetry In Pictures Series  film to be part of the festivities.  Big Eyes, Big Minds is the first children’s film festival in Singapore and will be held May 15th – 22nd at the Arts House.  The goal of the festival is to encouraging film appreciation in children and increase their knowledge of the craft of film-making.  Not only is the festival programing films made by young people; it is  also holding a film-making competition for children aged 5 to 16 who live in Singapore.

The schedule of films and events will not be available until April but one of the exciting highlights of the festival has already been announced.  Coraline in 3D and “The Making-of Coraline” will be presented by Laika!

Rodwan Productions is very excited to be a part of  Singapore’s inaugural festival for children!
